Our fees

We only work to a no-win, no-fee commitment and never charge upfront fees. We charge between 15–25% (+VAT) based on the amount of money you get back.

Our fee is capped at £10,000 (+VAT) for larger cases, where the bank pays back £66,666 or more.

How our fee works

The more the bank pays you back, the smaller the percentage we charge. Each band has a cap, so the percentage only ever falls, and our fee never goes above £10,000 (+VAT).

Our no-win, no-fee commitment means you don’t pay a single penny upfront. And if your claim is unsuccessful, you won’t owe us anything either. There are no hidden fees or admin charges.

You’ll only pay us a fee once your claim is successful and the bank or Financial Ombudsman Service confirms you’re receiving money back. And our fee is only due after you’ve received your money.

How and when we will charge you

We want our fees to be totally transparent, so here's some more information on them.

1Nothing to pay

You start your claim

We never charge upfront, and there is nothing to pay while we work on your case. You can cancel free of charge at any time until your case becomes successful. To cancel, call us on 020 4525 4600 or email enquiries@refundee.com.

2Our fee becomes chargeable

Your case is successful

“Successful” is the moment you are notified that your case is likely to succeed, or is going to succeed, at any time after we contact the bank or the Financial Ombudsman Service. From this point our fee is chargeable, even if you later cancel.

3Our fee becomes payable

You receive your money

You are only asked to pay once you have received your money back. Refunds sometimes arrive in stages, for example half from the bank and half from the Ombudsman later. We charge as each refund arrives.

Three examples of a successful case

  1. We notify you that your case has been upheld, or is going to be upheld, at any stage of the Financial Ombudsman Service or by the bank.
  2. Your bank or the Financial Ombudsman Service notify you that your case is going to be upheld.
  3. You are in contact with a group of victims of the same scam or a similar scam and become aware that the Financial Ombudsman Service or bank is upholding cases like yours.

Representing yourself

You have the right to pursue a claim through your bank and the Financial Ombudsman Service yourself, without paying a fee. You don't have to use our services, or any claims management company, if you don't want to.

If you'd like some help, we can help you understand your options and manage the claims process from start to finish. Enquiries are free and there is no obligation.

Frequently asked questions

What does ‘no-win, no-fee’ mean?

No-win, no-fee means you pay nothing upfront and nothing at all if we’re unsuccessful with your case. There are no hidden fees and no administration charges. You’ll only pay us a fee if your case is successful and you receive money from the bank.

What counts as a successful case?

A case may be considered successful when you are notified that the bank or Financial Ombudsman Service is upholding, or is going to uphold, your complaint. The details depend on the circumstances and your agreement with us.

What does ‘per case’ mean?

‘Per case’ refers to the individual claim being handled under the terms agreed with you. We will explain how the fee applies to your circumstances before you proceed.

When is the fee payable?

You are only asked to pay after you have received your money back. If a refund is paid in stages, the fee may be charged as each part of the refund arrives, in line with your agreement.

Can I cancel at any time?

You can cancel free of charge before your case becomes successful. If your case has already reached the successful stage described in your agreement, a fee may be chargeable even if you later cancel.

Can I do the process myself?

Yes. You can contact your bank and, where appropriate, the Financial Ombudsman Service yourself. You do not have to use Refundee or another claims management company.
